About the team - Mō te rōpū

International Revenue Strategy (IRS) plays a critical role in maintaining IR's strong international reputation and delivering future-focused services to its customers. These customers include other international tax authorities and organisations, as well as individuals with offshore interests. The team continues to address major international tax issues through smart strategies and the effective exchange of international intelligence.

IRS has recently refreshed its focus and team structure to further improve the customer experience by aligning all roles to deliver the right outcomes for IR, government, and ultimately, customers.

About the role - Mō te tūnga

Customer Compliance Specialists within IRS have a unique opportunity to contribute to New Zealand's international tax programme. This role focuses on working with customers and their representatives to facilitate international tax compliance both domestically and globally.

New Customer Compliance Specialists will bring strong analytical, communication, and relationship management skills, and be willing to work collaboratively with taxpayers and their representatives to support international tax compliance.

This includes providing tax technical support and advice to help customers understand and meet their international tax obligations, while championing IR's customer-centric and intelligence-led culture.

About you - Mōu

To be successful in this position and have a positive impact within the team, you will have:

  • A curious mindset focused on understanding customers through well-developed investigative skills and critical thinking
  • Proven ability to read and analyse financial information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a range of audiences
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Keen analytical and critical thinking capability
  • General knowledge of tax legislation, particularly international tax (or a strong passion and commitment to learn)
  • A strong work ethic with a can-do attitude, an appreciation for a fast-paced environment, and a proven ability to meet deadlines
