The Opportunity - Ara Whiwhi Mahi

As a Business Continuity and Crisis Management Professional, internally known as aDomain Specialist (L2) in Organisational Resilience, you will lead and enhance IR's crisis management work programme, ensuring the organisation is prepared for, able to respond to, and recover from major incidents. You will act as a trusted technical advisor, strengthening IR's Business Continuity Management System and driving continuous improvement in our crisis readiness and response.

Connected, Collaborative Environment

Work closely with peers in the Organisational Resilience team and partner with cross-functional operational teams. In this role, you will translate insights into practical solutions that benefit the organisation and its stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Direct and strengthen IR's crisis response and resilience planning, maintaining and continuously improving the Business Continuity Management System
  • Assist in delivering assurance and a work programme targeted to sustain Inland Revenue's resilience
  • Provide specialist, organisation-wide resiliency advice to inform quality decision-making
  • Work collaboratively across IR, sharing insights and creating scalable solutions
  • Keep across emerging trends, research, and concepts, contributing thought leadership in this area across All of Government forums
  • Coach and mentor colleagues, building crisis management and continuity concepts throughout the organisation

About you - Mōu 

To be successful in this role you will bring the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining business continuity plans and processes, with an understanding of best-practice continuity frameworks
  • Understanding and experience supporting enterprise-level crisis responses (A CIMS qualification is recommended) and implementing lessons learnt post an event
  • Strong relationship skills, ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across government agencies
  • Proficient in governance reporting, including data analysis and report completion
  • Comfort with technology and a strong aptitude for problem-solving and strategic thinking
  • A continuous improvement mindset, and a track record in coaching, training and facilitation
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or continuity certification, such as the CBCI
  • Good working knowledge of government structures and processes
