Ara Whiwhi Mahi - The Opportunity

As a Senior HR Advisor you'll hit the ground running, providing expert operational HR guidance and support to people leaders. You'll work end to end on complex HR technical cases, including employee investigations, performance management and absences issues from coaching leaders on initial conversations through to dismissal.

You'll be experienced in providing support to leaders within business groups to help them achieve their goals and building people leadership capability. You'll be working at pace and juggling lots of things at once, with agility to turn your mind to big picture matters quickly and ensuring you complete HR processes.

Mōu - About you

You'll bring your curiosity along with relevant experience and knowledge from your HR qualification as an end-to-end generalist in supporting and leading HR issues, change initiatives and continuous improvement in HR policies and practices.

You will also:

  • be an excellent relationship manager with experience working with leaders and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including unions
  • be confident in your decision making and the experience to know when you need to intervene
  • be able to demonstrate a high level of technical HR capability
  • be comfortable working with high autonomy, ready to roll up your sleeves on anything that comes your way and deliver
  • be a strong team player who gets a kick out of seeing the customer succeed because of your interventions
  • be resilient, agile and willing to quickly pick up new concepts
  • have a degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a similar discipline, providing a solid foundation in HR principles and practices
  • have worked within a government department or a large-scale organisation, undertaking a generalist HR role, giving HR advice.

As part of Inland Revenue's Ratonga Tāngata me te Wāhi Mahi - People and Workplace Services wider team, People Operations and Policy provides HR processes and services that support IR to perform effectively and provide advice to the organisation. They ensure key employment-related legislative requirements are met, risks are managed, and that all processes are fit for purpose and provide a great customer experience.
