Job Description

The Law Commission is an independent Crown entity that undertakes law reform projects and provides advice to Ministers and public sector agencies.  Our role is to promote the systematic review, reform and development of the law of New Zealand.

We currently have opportunities for Legal and Policy Advisers.

Legal and Policy Advisers provide legal and policy research, analysis and advice that supports the Commissioners in producing law reform reports and providing advice.

Applicants must have outstanding legal qualifications, proven research skills, an appreciation of policy as well as law, be able to work effectively in small teams, and be able to write in the Law Commission style. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to assist the Law Commission to take into account te ao Māori in its work would be advantageous.

The Commission determines the level at which it appoints Legal and Policy Advisers by having regard to an individual candidate's skills and experience.  We are looking to fill vacancies with people who have a range of relevant legal and policy experience.
