Mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Academic to embrace and grow this newly created role that will lead projects and professional development initiatives for academic staff across the university. Drawing on, and conducting, evidence-based research you will be enhancing effective practices in blended/hybrid teaching and enhancing the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) across the university.

This exciting opportunity paves the way for an energetic, efficient, and highly motivated individual to strengthen teaching research and drive excellence in teaching to the Higher Education sector whilst conducting their own PBRF eligible research.

If you thrive in an office environment, then this permanent ongoing role would suit those in Auckland or Palmerston North however you could be based at any of our three Campus' nationally (Auckland, Palmerston North, or Wellington).

Ka whai koe - About you

You will bring extensive experience leading academic professional development initiatives and an established research track record in the scholarship of teaching and learning. You will have passion and drive to strengthen teaching research and support the teaching of others in the higher education sector.

This will be reflected through the following:

  • Master's/PhD Degree in Education or closely related field (PhD Preferred)
  • Demonstrated SoTL research experience at level of lecturer/senior lecturer as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, conference proceedings, and applied experience
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and implement academic professional development initiatives
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express complex matters in a concise and easily understandable manner across varying audiences within higher education
  • Ability to grow and maintain strong collegial relationships with academic and professional staff and service lines to ensure alignment with university strategies, plans and services
