We are seeking an Associate Professor for the University's Institute of Education - Te Kura o Te Mātauranga within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences
This Associate Professor position requires an experienced and collegial academic to enhance research, teaching, learning, and supervision within the Institute of Education, grow external funding and research capability across staff and students, and provide academic leadership across the Institute, College, University and wider discipline
Preferred expertise includes one or more of:
- Research methods (quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, applied)
- Literacy education
- Indigenous education
- Artificial intelligence in education or
- Inclusive education and learning support

About this role - Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
- This is a full-time, ongoing Associate Professor appointment based at either our Albany (Auckland) or Manawatū (Palmerston North) campus
- The salary band for this position is NZD$142,607 - $166,584 (2026 1 FTE) based on skills and experience
- Reporting directly to the Head of the Institute of Education, you will be accountable for leadership, learning and teaching, supervision, research and scholarship, and service
- Opportunities and engagement in Institute and College-level leadership and academic service roles as part of this appointment are expected

The position requires:
- An experienced, competent and enabling academic leader and researcher who is committed to upholding Te Tiriti
- A doctoral qualification with a strong academic record, recognised for excellence in research and research methods, strong engagement in supportive and effective teaching and supervision, and holding a high standing within your discipline
- An experienced networker and relationship builder with excellent interpersonal skills
- An advocate of pluralist research methodologies
- An individual who understands innovation in education and research, particularly for the changing tertiary education environment in Aotearoa
