Job Description

This Waiouru-based position is a hands-on technical role within the Communications and Information Systems (CIS) branch, it offers professional development opportunities and the chance to work with leading edge technology.

The successful applicant will be responsible for desktop computer repair and maintenance, whereby you will provide 1st level and where appropriate, 2nd level, fault diagnosis, escalation and restoration of technical issues or requests.  You will ensure effective and accurate recording of all customer faults, issues and work requests logged through the Service Desk.

You will have a proven record of producing results in a similar role, together with excellent interpersonal skills, high-level analytical skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure.  Ideally you will have a qualification in Network+ and A+ and/or relevant industry experience in the support of computer hardware and application software, as well as a sound working knowledge of Microsoft and network products in an enterprise environment is desirable.

The remuneration band for this position is $47,443 to $58,606, inclusive of a 4% employer superannuation contribution.

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
