Job Description

Exciting new position within the Payroll team at Fire and Emergency New Zealand. This is an opportunity to utilise your knowledge and skills within a supportive team and make a real difference to the business!

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll and Rostering Administrator to join our National payroll team. Reporting to the National Payroll Services Manager, you will be providing support to both the payroll service delivery and our Station Management System (SMS) delivery functions.

In this busy role you will be responsible for administering accurate and timely payroll services, which includes once a month, running our download process of payment and leave transactions which will mean a 4am start. You will also maintain roster information in SMS to ensure the transfer of accurate information to Payroll for payment processing, and provide advice and support to users of the SMS system as needed.

Our ideal applicant will have the following:

  • Knowledge of and understanding of New Zealand Payroll systems through ideally one to two years of experience
  • Excellent customer service and an ability to interact professionally with service providers and employees
  • Working knowledge and/or understanding of New Zealand employment and payroll related legislation including the Holidays Act, the Wages Protection Act and the Privacy Act.
  • Confidence working with numbers and an aptitude for maths
  • Ability to have an early start (4am start once per month)
  • Exposure to and/or understanding of roster applications associated with payroll
  • Ideally experience with PS Enterprise (Pse)

So if you're looking for an exciting opportunity to put your diverse skill set to use in an organisation dedicated to helping our communities, then we'll provide you with a unique environment to utilise your knowledge within a supportive team.
