Job Description

Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori

Policy and Development

Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori is committed to the revitalisation of te reo Māori for Aotearoa.  The work we do supports the government's Māori language strategy – Maihi Karauna, issued under the Māori Language Act 2016.

Our vision is the landscape of Aotearoa will resonate with our indigenous language.  With a strong and supportive team of committed advocates we are committed to making this happen.

We are looking for people with appropriate qualifications who relish the opportunity to be part of our organisation and to contribute to the development and implementation of our strategy here at Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori.

Senior Language Planning Advisor Fixed Term (Six Months)

As a member of the Language Planning and Evaluation Centre you will identify opportunities for the introduction and revitalisation of te reo Māori within government agencies and the private sector.

You will lead the development of language planning approaches and identify key business drivers to which te reo Māori can add value to agencies, organisations and businesses.  A key part of this role will be your relationship management experience as you will engage with senior leaders to influence the acceptance and/or need for a language plan.

To apply for this role, you will need demonstrated experience in language planning design and relationship management.  Some policy design experience and the ability to speak te reo Māori is an advantage, as would a commitment to improve your reo Māori development and use.
