We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic, innovative, and self-motivated individual to manage the Tauranga accommodation facilities. The role involves leading a team of residential leaders, housekeepers, and administrative staff in creating a vibrant and cohesive halls of residence experience.
This is a dynamic role, especially with a new cohort of students arriving each year. Most will be leaving home for the first time, and your role will be pivotal in ensuring they experience student life in a safe environment and make lasting friendships. You will be responsible for creating and managing a supportive residential community, maintaining a safe living environment, and offering support that fosters academic success and life skill development.
The position is primarily "live-in," with the successful applicant residing in the Residential Life Manager's one-bedroom unit on-site at Selwyn Street accommodation, as the role involves regular evening and weekend work. However, local residents in Tauranga may also be considered for the role.
The salary will be determined by the skills, knowledge, and experience you bring to the role. This is a full-time (37.5 hours a week) role based on the Tauranga Campus.

To be successful in this position, you will need the following:
- Experience managing a team of staff, ensuring smooth operation and a positive work environment
- Experience working in a welfare or student support capacity is essential
- Ability to mediate and manage challenging situations with students, fostering a positive community atmosphere
- Experience in planning and facilitating events and group activities
- Experience working with diverse ethnic groups, particularly with young people, including international students
- Insight into the needs of university students, particularly those living away from home for the first time
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience
The role requires you to build a supportive and engaging residential community culture while ensuring the students have an amazing yet safe living experience at the Tauranga accommodation.

Tauranga student accommodation includes Selwyn Street Studios and Durham Mews Apartments. The Selwyn Street Studios, purpose-built in 2022, have 91 fully furnished studio rooms across three floors. Durham Mews Apartments, located adjacent to the campus, offer 18 apartment-style beds across 6 units.
These facilities house students year-round and host conference groups during the summer months.
