As a Technical Officer in the Division of Health, you'll deliver high-quality technical support that underpins our teaching and research in Sports Science across our teaching and research spaces in Hamilton, Cambridge and Tauranga.
Your primary focus will be supporting the sports science laboratories, contributing to the delivery of teaching sessions and providing technical assistance to academic staff, researchers and postgraduate students. You will also play an important role in outreach-focused activities, including external athlete testing and community engagement initiatives.
While you will have a dedicated focus within sports science, you will also share expertise and responsibilities across the wider technical team, ensuring our staff and students receive seamless, expert support at every stage.
Salary will be in the range of $71,275 to $84,695 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a 0.6 FTE role (22.5 hours a week) based across our Hamilton, Cambridge and Tauranga sites.

You are a proactive and organised professional with a strong interest in sport and human movement science, skilled in operating and developing research equipment, supporting teaching and research activities, and ensuring high standards of health, safety and laboratory compliance.
You will demonstrate:
Preferred candidates will also bring experience in:
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical safety regulations.
- Relevant work experience in a tertiary scientific teaching and/or research programme.
- Experience supporting the development of new and existing laboratory facilities in Sport and Human Performance.
- Experience working with accreditation of Sport and Human Performance laboratories (e.g. BASES, ESSA).
You are a strong team player, collaborative, proactive, customer-focused and committed to continuous improvement.
