Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
As Associate Professor in Nursing, you will provide academic leadership across teaching, research, and service within the School of Nursing and Midwifery.
You will deliver research-informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes, supervise honours and postgraduate research students, and contribute to curriculum development and programme leadership. The role also involves mentoring academic staff, supporting inter-professional education, and strengthening partnerships with healthcare providers and community stakeholders.
You will maintain an active research programme, publish scholarly outputs, attract external research funding, and contribute to advancing nursing knowledge and practice.
This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Hamilton campus. Salary will be in the range of $145,000 to $170,000 per year, depending on the skills, knowledge, and experience you bring to the role. Ko wai koe? - Who are you?
You will hold a PhD in Nursing or a closely related discipline and have an established academic career with demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and academic leadership.
You will also hold a current Annual Practising Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of New Zealand. In addition, you will bring:
- Proven experience in leading nursing education and mentoring academic staff
- A strong research track record with publications and scholarly outputs
- Experience supervising postgraduate research students, including PhD candidates
- The ability to attract external research funding and lead research initiatives
- Demonstrated success in developing innovative teaching approaches, including blended and online learning
- Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with clinical partners and healthcare providers
