We are looking for an esports enthusiast who can actively lead, drive and implement the esports strategy within the University of Waikato. You will manage the Esports Arena, its equipment and reputation to build membership and ensure customer satisfaction, as well as manage the delivery of esports competitions for NZ secondary school students, contributing to distinctive awareness of the University of Waikato. You will require strong communication skills to manage relationships with all stakeholders and key strategic partners.

Reporting to the Sports Development Manager (Sport and Wellbeing), you will manage the delivery of esports opportunities for our University students to ensure they have access to a positive and distinctive experience.

Salary will be in the range of $73,235 to $80,000 per year, based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

In addition to your tertiary qualification in a related area, you will also have:

• 2-3 years relevant experience in the esports community, esports delivery and/or event management
• Excellent understanding of risk management within esports and the strategies to mitigate these risks
• A customer-focused approach and understanding of students, with empathy for multicultural requirements
• Demonstrated team management skills and the ability to supervise staff and volunteers
• Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities

The Sport and Wellbeing Group develops and manages high-quality, relevant sport and wellbeing programmes and facilities that support students, staff and the wider community to be active and healthy, enhancing the University of Waikato experience. Sport and Wellbeing-managed facilities and services include UniRec, Wellbeing Hub, Esports Arena, and university sport fields, events and clubs.

The group is part of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, the University's executive leadership office, and is led by the Associate Director, Sport and Wellbeing.
