Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Officer (Simulation) to join our Division of Health Technical Team.
In this role, you will play a critical part in delivering high-quality simulation-based teaching and assessment, including supporting high-stakes Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs). You will configure, operate and troubleshoot simulation technologies, digital assessment platforms, and audiovisual systems to ensure seamless teaching and assessment experiences.
Working closely with academic staff and fellow technical team members, you will contribute to simulation design, technical delivery, and continuous improvement of our clinical education environment. While you will have a primary focus on simulation, you will also collaborate across the wider technical team to support teaching and research activities.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), continuing role based in Hamilton.
Salary will be in the range of $73,235 to $87,024 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position.

Ko wai koe? - Who are you?
You are a hands-on, solutions-focused technical professional with experience in simulation, laboratory, or teaching environments. You are confident working with complex systems and thrive in dynamic, high-pressure settings such as assessments.
You will bring:
- Experience operating and troubleshooting technical equipment and digital systems
- Strong ICT capability, including data management and secure handling of information
- Experience supporting teaching activities or assessment events
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to provide real-time technical support
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to team-based delivery
- Awareness of health and safety practices in technical environments
- A relevant tertiary qualification in health sciences, simulation, biomedical science, audiovisual technology, IT systems, or similar
Desirable experience includes:
- Supporting OSCEs or structured clinical assessments
- Working with simulation technologies or audiovisual recording systems
- Knowledge of assessment platforms and data security requirements
- Experience in tertiary health education environments
