Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We have a full-time, two-year fixed-term Research Officer position available for a highly motivated individual to support and assist research activities within a collaborative freshwater and environmental research programme.

Salary will be in the range of $81,389 to $97,791 per year, pro-rata based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

Ko wai koe? - Who are you?

You will have a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental sciences, freshwater science, ecology, hydrology or a related discipline, with a high-quality research component, such as a thesis.

You will have experience working with environmental, ecological, hydrological or water quality datasets. You will have experience with environmental data analysis software such as R, Python, GIS or similar. You will be able to demonstrate high-level quantitative and analytical skills in data processing, management and interpretation.

You will be a self-motivated and adaptable researcher with a strong interest in freshwater ecosystems and environmental science. You will enjoy tackling complex problems, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to research that informs real-world environmental management.
