Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for a Pūkenga Hauora - Lecturer in Hauora Māori to join Te Kura Tātai Hauora - School of Health on a fixed-term, full-time contract for three years.
Key responsibilities:
- Play an active role in the development of health and wellbeing content, in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Health and across the faculty
- Contribute to achieving equity through a commitment to te Tiriti o Waitangi and applying Mātauranga Māori to learning and research
- Teach in the health and wellbeing programme, including undertaking course coordination, in ways that enhance collaboration with other schools and faculties within the university
- Conduct research to a world-class standard in health and wellbeing, attracting postgraduate students, collaborating with other researchers at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington and elsewhere, and seeking external research funding
- Contribute to the development of the school's wider academic and strategic direction and planning
- Contribute to the University's engagement with stakeholders, particularly in respect of health agencies, including with government, Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand and partners relevant to our capital city location

Key requirements:
- Have a PhD
- Active researcher and enthusiastic teacher with a proven commitment to student success
- Knowledge of how the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi can be effectively upheld in academic and health settings
- Experience in developing courses or contributing to course design, particularly in relation to physiology and nutrition for non-science students
- Skills in stakeholder engagement
- Exposure to multiple cultures and settings
- Experience in the delivery of teaching at tertiary level
- Expertise in biological sciences and nutrition
