Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Implementation Lead - Work-Integrated Learning to join Te Kōtuinga Mātauranga - Centre for Academic Development team on a fixed-term contract for one year.
Key responsibilities:
- Help establish a new WIL Hub at Te Herenga Waka. This Hub aims to be an easily identifiable single point of contact for faculty staff, and external stakeholders in all WIL activities
- Begin building the Hub as an important central locus - a coordinating entity - of WIL activity closely connected to schools and faculties
- Work with school, faculty, and Te Waikura - Academic Office staff to embed WIL more fully into curricula across all disciplinary areas
- Liaise with, and build capability of staff delivering and coordinating courses which include or could potentially include a work placement, internship or project in the workplace, completion of case studies, volunteering, service learning, work shadowing and simulations on campus
- Establish the model of support for students undertaking WIL, working with other support services
- Support the work of the:
- Senior Adviser - Work-Integrated Learning and Career Development
- Principal Adviser, Learning and Teaching
- Support the implementation of a new WIL Administration Software System

Key requirements - essential:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and a career-specific qualification or five plus years of experience in work-integrated learning programme design, pedagogy, and practice (curricular and co-curricular), or a closely related field (e.g. career sector experience)
- Demonstrated experience in:
- project implementation
- building and managing collaborative partnerships in designing and delivering services that align with strategic initiatives and achieve organisational objectives
- Demonstrated excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively plan, prioritise and manage multiple workstreams and activities across a mixture of responsive and longer-term tasks
- Experience in working with students and staff within the tertiary education environment
- Current and demonstrated knowledge of good practice in work-integrated learning
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise initiative and sound judgment, use problem-solving skills and interpret and advise on policy and procedures
Key requirements - desirable:
- Experience in supervising or coordinating internship/placement/practicum programmes
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, social media, and databases
- Understanding of current and emerging graduate and postgraduate labour markets and employer needs nationally and internationally
