Job Description

The West Coast District Health Board requires a Clinical Nurse Manager Inpatient Ward (Medical/Surgical/AT&R/ CCU) for a full time role in Greymouth.

With an entire new hospital under construction, we have an opportunity for great professional development for a suitably skilled individual while they provide operational and clinical leadership to ensure a safe, evidenced based practice environment that supports service requirements.  

We are looking for an experienced nursing practitioner to carry out a variety of complex and clinically driven tasks including:

  • Expert leadership and management knowledge with excellent clinical skills
  • Leads the integration of services within the Inpatient Ward
  • Ensures that all nursing practice is safe, legal, effective and responsive to the needs of the patients
  • Develops an environment, which places a responsibility and authority for decision making at the level closest to the situation
  • Understands and practises the principles of quality management and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrates effective management of complaints, incidents and hazards as per policies and procedures

To be successful in this role it is essential you have the following:

  • Registered with the NZ Nursing Council as a Registered General or Registered Comprehensive Nurse and hold a current Nursing Council of NZ Practising Certificate
  • Holds post graduate management, or Nursing qualification or working towards same
  • Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement a nursing care delivery system
  • Minimum of five years of post-registration experience
  • Demonstrate a commitment to staff development and research based practice and a commitment to relevant professional development
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation and conflict resolution across all disciplines and occupational groups
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial management in an operational area
