The word “privacy” means different things to different people.  The Privacy Commissioner works across business, government and the public to promote a culture in which personal information is protected and respected. 2019 will be an exciting year for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, with the pending introduction of a new Privacy Act.

The Office investigates complaints about alleged breaches of privacy, and examines practices, polices and new legislation for its effect on privacy. It has strong communications, education, and outreach functions.

This is a diverse role, encompassing:

  • A mix of internal and external communication activities, including digital communications
  • Website management
  • Event management
  • Design and production of digital resources
  • Media liaison
  • Copywriting
  • General admin tasks

We're looking for a proactive person who is able to use their initiative and juggle several tasks at once, who also has the proven ability to work as part of a team to deliver tasks to a high standard. While experience in communications is desirable, consideration will be given to entry level applicants.

You will ideally have:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience in drafting articles and other communications materials
  • Experience in digital communications, specifically social media
  • Knowledge/experience using Adobe creative suite
  • Sound analytical skills
