Principal Engineer - Stormwater - Network Engineering at Wellington Water, Wellington - Wairarapa

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.

The remuneration range for this role is 109,980 - $155,266 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.

The opportunity

This position sits within our Network Development and Delivery group (NDD). The NDD leads the investigation, design and delivery of the three-year rolling work programme that delivers fit-for-purpose infrastructure solutions for client councils, to deliver on our service goals.

We are looking for someone to take a guiding role on multiple, large scale and complex network projects, supporting the team to carry them out and lending their technical expertise to complex issues, ensuring strategic outcomes are delivered.

About you

You have strong analytical skills and able to manage data to inform and make meaningful decisions, be familiar with innovation and strategy to meet climate change challenges and have a good understanding of planning and policy mechanisms.

  • Have experience in taking strategy and turning it into activities that deliver the right outcomes for the region
  • Have experience with asset management
  • Have experience with stormwater engineering design
  • Have strong technical knowledge in stormwater engineering, climate change resilience and adaptation
  • Hold a BE or Diploma in Engineering (preferably civil or environmental engineering)

The Network Engineering team develops an understanding of the performance of the Three Waters network and what upgrades are needed to support growth, renewals or continued reliable service to customers. We do this through undertaking and initiating investigations and regional studies informed by our over-arching strategy. We also support work across the business that is driven by this strategy. We provide engineering advice to service planning to help inform investment advice to councils and to set long term plans.
