Condition Assessment Survey Lead at Wellington Water, Wellington - Wairarapa

  • Stand up and lead a new team focusing on undertaking routine condition surveys

  • Located in Petone, Wellington

This is a full-time position for 40 hours per week, the remuneration range for this role is $108,644 to $153,379 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.

The opportunity

This is a new opportunity to build and lead Wellington Water's approach to routine condition assessment survey practice from the ground up. As the organisation's technical authority in this space, you'll develop the survey practices, methodologies, and technologies used in order to gather asset and condition information in the field Working with key stakeholders across the organisation, you'll ensure collection of accurate, consistent asset data to underpin investment and reliability choices we make.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, lead, and coordinate delivery of a region-wide 0-3 year routine condition assessment programme
  • Define best-practice methodologies and grading approaches for network assets
  • Build, lead and develop a small team of technical specialists, fostering collaboration and performance
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Build strong relationships across teams and with external partners to align strategy and delivery

About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in asset condition assessment and data interpretation
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience guiding technical professionals
  • Confidence in introducing new tools, technologies, and process improvements
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across technical and operational teams
