Job Description

Role: Offender Employment Instructor Dairy

Location: Waikeria Prison
Vacancy Number: CSCR8788

Now's the time to make a change – and make a difference.

Offender Employment (OE) is all about giving offenders the opportunity to gain skills and work experience to increase their chances of obtaining employment after release.

As a Dairy Instructor, you have the opportunity to pass on your skills and experience and make a real difference. By working closely with offenders, you will be supporting them to learn new skills, gain work experience and assist with their rehabilitation through achieving industry recognised qualifications, increasing their chances of obtaining employment after release.

There are so many facets to the role, from facilitating adult learning and on-job training, to forging relationships across the Department and within the wider community.

This rewarding position demands someone who possesses:

  • proven experience in the Dairy industry
  • exceptional people, communication & organisational skills
  • the ability to motivate and develop people within a team environment
  • Ideally be experienced as an adult educator or NZQA assessor (4098 or equivalent)
  • a full and clean driver licence required.
  • A strong focus on health and safety qualifications in farming is preferable (but not essential – training will be provided)
  • Expertise in current best practices, training systems and moderation quality assurance processes (levels 2 or 3)
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Full pre-employment medical, physical and drug tests will be completed on the successful candidate.

Further to completion of the selection process, you are looking at being provided comprehensive training, parts of which will take place onsite and at our Staff College in Wellington.

Please apply online at the Corrections website before the closing date. E-mailed applications will NOT be considered.

Applications close Tuesday, 19 December 2017.
