We are a team of psychologists at the Department Of Corrections looking to recruit our next valued practitioner. 


This is a fantastic opportunity for you to use your clinical skills and provide professional expertise and leadership in a diverse social service environment. Working within a scientist-practitioner framework, providing clinical services targeted to assist offenders develop skills to reduce re-offending is pivotal to this role.

Our psychologists undertake: 

  • Clinical assessments (in prison and in the community) 
  • Treatments (in prison and in the community)
  • Provide supervision; 
  • Advice and training within Corrections and allied agencies;
  • Monitor the integrity of rehabilitation programmes; and 
  • Participate in service and research initiatives. 


The successful candidate will be based in Northland Community Probation and will provide psychological services to Northland Region Corrections Facility (NRCF) and Taitokerau Community Probation offices.  


 This professional role calls for someone who:


  • Is reliable with strong communication skills
  • Is able to work independently but in a supported team environment
  • Has strengths in developing relationships with stakeholders and agencies
  • Has a minimum of a Masters degree in Psychology (Clinical or Forensic Psychology and registration with the NZ Psychologist Board in the clinical/counselling and general scope of practice)
  • Is an excellent problem solver who can work across cultures
  • Is flexible and able to work on long and short term interventions
