Job Description

We are looking for leaders in the construction industry who want to work with men who have had diverse life experiences but who are motivated about making a positive change in their lives. We need you to teach, support and use YOUR life experiences to help others unleash their talents and be part of something that can be life changing!

Our Offender Employment Instructors (OEI) support offenders to improve their work habits, work experiences and skills so that they can increase their chances of obtaining sustainable and legitimate employment on their release.

We are looking for applications from trade-qualified carpenters who have worked in a commercial environment and have:

  • A current Licensed Building Practitioner Licence (LBP)
  • Project management experience
  • Proven track record of Refurbishment and New Build projects
  • Ideally be experienced as an adult educator or NZQA assessor (4098 or equivalent) however it is not essential as we will support you to obtain this
  • Have exceptional people skills and the motivation to develop others
  • Demonstrate the ability to harness potential and be proactive in approach
  • Hold a current first aid certificate and full clean NZ driver licence

If this sounds like you and you're wondering what we can offer:

  • An amazing team of experienced Instructors who have seen what they can do to change a person's life
  • A chance to teach willing students who want to make a difference to their own self-worth.
  • Supporting you to support the learning of others in a commercial and training environment as well as an opportunity to up-skill yourself in other areas such as:
  • National Certificate in Adult Education and Training
  • National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education
  • National Certificate in Offender Management

By being able to up-skill yourself you will be able to deliver training in different areas of expertise with our offenders as well as increasing your own qualifications without any cost to you.

You will be continually challenged in this role from facilitating adult learning and on-job training to Health & Safety, budget management and relationship building, both within the prison and external suppliers. Your passion will inspire others to achieve while your business acumen will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget and to a high standard.

As a key Frontline staff member you will need to be available to attend our frontline futures pathway in Wellington.

Applications close Sunday, 24 June 2018.
