Transport affects every area of our society contributing to social, economic, environmental and health and safety outcomes. The Ministry of Transport is the government's chief policy adviser on transport, providing advice on funding, investment and regulatory arrangements needed to support a sound transport system, including land, aviation and maritime transport.

We are looking for a Specialist in Security, Risk and BCP to join our Business Integrity and Performance (BIP) team who provide an advisory function to the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership team to support its leadership of a high-performing Ministry. The BIP team are responsible for planning and accountability, risk and assurance functions, business continuity planning, procurement policies and approaches, project management, and protective security requirements.

You will be a proactive team player and a well respected business partner, providing expert advice on security, risk and business continuity activities which support the successful delivery of Ministry strategy. You'll have access to all parts of the Ministry, so you'll get to know all aspects of our business. Your confidence, innovation, collaboration skills and technical expertise will shine here.

You will have:

  • knowledge of New Zealand government relating to risk management
  • experience working with government control and accountability agencies
  • successfully led and implemented the design, implementation and management of risk, protective security and business continuity strategies
  • a strength for relationship management and stakeholder engagement
  • excellent written and verbal communication, with strong influencing and reporting skills.

This is a permanent position, however we are open to considering a secondment opportunity for the right candidate. You will be required to obtain and maintain a high level national security clearance.
