Job Description

About Us

The new Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is the Government's lead advisor on housing and urban development and will deliver the Government's programme to address homelessness, increase public and private housing supply, make existing homes warmer and healthier, make housing affordable for people to rent and buy, and lead quality urban development strategies to create thriving communities.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Insights, Monitoring and Performance, you will have the opportunity to shape and grow a team responsible for delivering insights to drive change. Your team will build partnerships across government and beyond to deliver insights on strategic issues and provide answers to the big questions to drive our strategy. It's a great opportunity to bring your knowledge and experience to help build a team built on best practice and innovation.

About you

We are looking for a highly credible professional with the capability and experience to shape this new team. A confident and influential communicator, you will know how to make connections across the wider HUD business, providing technical guidance and leadership to others within the group and representing HUD across the wider system.  You will be a self-starter with a high degree of comfort dealing with the ambiguity that comes from starting up new functions.

 Your experience will include:

  • Demonstrated leadership and management of a high-performing team and experience coaching and developing staff to empower them to deliver on objectives
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and credibility with internal and external stakeholders and maintain strong relationships
  • A strategic outlook with the intellectual capability to analyse large, complex issues and readily grasp and synthesise ideas
  • A proven track record in leading large work programmes, considering both strategic and short-term needs
  • Awareness of research and evaluation disciplines and processes, including latest developments in techniques and practices.
