Senior Advisor - Contract Management at Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Auckland

Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga - The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) leads New Zealand's housing and urban development work programme

 

About the role | Mō te tūnga

Our Contract Management team is in our System Delivery and Performance group which is responsible for managing and monitoring delivery. 

The Senior Advisor Contract Management is responsible for managing contracts and operational relationships with a portfolio of housing and housing-related service providers who support some of this country's most vulnerable people to have a home that is warm, dry and safe.

Working in partnership with providers and other stakeholders you will implement, manage and monitor contracts, and use your analytical skills and lateral thinking to develop practical solutions to issues that arise, or improvements to existing arrangements to enhance the achievement of outcomes for the people we support.

You will also take on a leadership role, providing best practice advice and support to providers, other members of the Contract Management team, the wider Ministry and other key stakeholders.

This role could be based in Wellington or Auckland.

 

About you | Mōu

This role would suit a person who thrives in a busy and challenging work environment, with supportive colleagues, you will have:

  • Relevant experience in the management of contracts for housing or social services
  • Specialist relationship management skillset – the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships built on trust and integrity
  • Experience working collaboratively with NGOs, Iwi/Māori providers and other Government agencies
  • The ability to conduct analysis to define and implement solutions to issues, or take advantage of opportunities, arising from the delivery of contracted services.
  • Ability to get things done in a fast-paced environment with multiple and shifting priorities
  • Professional maturity, sound judgement and the ability to gain immediate credibility
  • Awareness and ability to identify both strategic and operational risks and implement appropriate mitigations
  • Success working in a team environment and supporting leadership
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga translates to ‘the foundation for a treasured home'. Our System Delivery and Performance group is responsible for managing and monitoring delivery in conjunction with with Te Kāhu our Māori Housing unit .  This group brings together delivery and supply functions, land acquisition and development, and the management of our contracts reporting on delivery and investment.  The group also leads out on procurement for the organisation.
