Mō te tūranga | About the role

This is more than a traditional security role. 

You'll work across cyber operations, threat management, cloud security, incident response, security architecture, and emerging technology risk. You'll also help shape how NZQA securely adopts AI and other future technologies. 

You will have the opportunity to: 

  • Help protect services for New Zealanders 
  • Influence security strategy and technology decisions 
  • Work with modern security technologies 
  • Respond to emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities 
  • Contribute to AI security and governance initiatives 
  • Collaborate across government and industry security networks 

In this role you will:

  • Monitor and respond to cyber security threats and incidents 
  • Manage security risks and vulnerabilities 
  • Support security operations and threat detection capabilities 
  • Provide security advice to projects and business teams 
  • Contribute to security awareness initiatives 
  • Help deliver secure cloud and digital solutions 
  • Support NZQA's AI and cyber security future roadmap

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Experience in cyber security, infrastructure, networking, or systems engineering 
  • Knowledge of security monitoring, incident response, and risk management 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills 
  • A passion for learning and staying ahead of emerging threats 

Experience with CrowdStrike security technologies, SIEM platforms, cloud security, NZISM, or PSR would be an advantage.
