The Behaviour and Choice team is part of the Customer Experience and Behaviour group, and so you will also contribute to our shared aims, which are to create a shared understanding of our customers and translate our customer promise into tangible experiences and targets; to make data accessible and normalise its use in strategic, operational and tactical decision making; and to expand the use of behaviour based design to support delivery excellence.

 

The role

This role is based in our Behaviour and Choice team. This team's purpose is to help realise NZTA's strategic goals through lasting and effective behaviour change among users of the transport system. In this role you will apply your knowledge of the social sciences to identify behavioural issues, establish measurement frameworks and help design interventions that realise sustained and effective behaviour change. Your skills might be applied in developing new policies and services, transport improvements, emerging technologies, pricing systems, and real-time transport operations.

We would love to hear from you if you are passionate about the potential of the social sciences to contribute to New Zealand society. In this role you will get to address some of New Zealand's most significant transport challenges, from reducing the harms of transport, to improving access to social and economic opportunities, lifting use of public transport, encouraging more walking and cycling, and reducing the adverse effects of transport on the climate, local environment and public health.

 

What you will bring

Your experiences gained in any sector, so long as you have knowledge of, or experience in human behaviour. Preferred skills and experience include: 

  • Ability to identify potential behavioural risks and opportunities
  • Collaboration, communication and relationship management skills
  • Adaptability to working with other disciplines on a variety of projects
  • Experience working in transport or government
  • Tertiary qualification in psychology or related social science
