About us

At the NZ Transport Agency, it all starts with our people. The organisation's performance and success depends on the people who choose to make this a great place to work and make a difference for New Zealand. The Transport Agency has a strong future focus, understanding that new technologies and changing customer expectations mean the transport system we know today will not be the one we deliver in ten years' time.

The focus of the Operations Group is to deliver and manage today's transport experiences for customers.  Working as part of the Operational Planning and Performance team, you will provide high quality analysis and advice to senior leaders within the wider Operations Group.  You will lead on performance / accountability reporting, but also be involved in business and financial planning.

The role

The purpose of the Senior Advisor role is to ensure that performance reports and performance processes work effectively for the Operations business group. You will provide high quality analysis and advice to senior leaders within the group. You will support reporting across all Operations group activities, as well as wider organisational reporting processes. This role will also have some involvement in financial reporting, and developing and operationalising the Operations group Work Plan.

You will bring your strong strategic or operational reporting and analysis experience to lead on the development and maintenance of reporting for use within the Operations Group, and analyse performance information. You'll have a strong customer focus and be used to working with senior stakeholders to support them in the areas of performance and accountability reporting, including reporting progress against plans. You'll have strong written communications skills as well as an eye for detail and an interest in increasing the level of consistency to our reporting.

What you will bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong reporting experience within strategic and / or operational areas
  • A strong analytical background, enabling key performance issues to be identified
  • Strong Excel skills and experience
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills and the desire to build trust and confidence
  • The ability to work with the business to develop appropriate measures and reports
  • Some business or financial planning experience would be desirable but isn't essential
  • The ability to work autonomously when required and be self-managing

In return we are offering a competitive salary, a professional and committed team, and an excellent working environment that provides flexible employment practices.
