Business Systems Administrator

  • Bring your generalist administration and systems experience
  • Opportunity to work in a really varied and interesting role
  • Based in the unique environment of the Auckland Transport Operations Centre

About us

At the NZ Transport Agency, it all starts with our people. The organisation's performance and success depends on the people who choose to make this a great place to work and make a difference for New Zealand. The Transport Agency has a strong future focus, understanding that new technologies and changing customer expectations mean the transport system we know today will not be the one we deliver in ten years time.

The Journey Management Centre team, part of our Operations group, delivers a transport system for safe and predictable journeys across the range of transport modes that people choose to use. They work to continuously improve how the transport system operates as a whole and ensures we are well prepared for responding to emergencies on a local and national scale. They have strong relationships with local groups and councils to ensure our plans align.

The role

The purpose of the role is to administer key operational systems in order to keep technology operating effectively within the Auckland Traffic Operations Centre (ATOC). This role acts as a key link between the control room and the information systems team focusing on configurations and system set-ups, design, reports and troubleshooting system problems. Part of this will be supporting the wider team with CCTV requests. This role will also help with additional administrative support, covering reception and helping chair and document serious incident debrief meetings.

This role would suit someone who has worked in a similar environment, such as a control room or communications centre. You will have strong administration skills but will be able to turn your hand to a variety of administration and systems related tasks and thrive on the flexibility of a varied role. You'll have excellent computer skills with experience in a range of different software and be able to pick up new systems easily. You'll have a strong eye for detail and enjoy a busy role. Database management experience would be a bonus, but it's not essential.

What you will bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in a technical business administration / analyst role
  • The ability to participate in the processes that determine business needs, and how these business needs should drive changes to systems
  • Familiar with industry best practices and committed to the development of suitable standards, procedures and controls relating to business systems
  • An advanced level of computing skills, and the use of databases, Microsoft Word and Excel

Please note that the successful applicant will need to have the ability to obtain and maintain a Police security vetting.
