In our Strategy, Policy and Planning group, our aim is to set the long-term direction of the land transport system and enable its achievement through collaborative planning and drive organisation-wide success through effective monitoring of delivery performance.

The role

The purpose of this role is to implement, enhance and promote the Transport Agency's strategic planning practice to ensure our strategy is delivered. This role is largely focused on building strong relationships with senior leaders and external partners, and it also involves analysing the information to inform senior leaders with strategic planning decisions.

We are looking for someone who can provide thought leadership to complement the existing technical business planning knowledge within the team. You will have advanced communication skills and use those to influence and network in a fast paced and complex environment.

What you will bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in providing thought leadership in bringing strategy to  life
  • Sound knowledge of transport planning and dealing with business cases.
  • Experience in influencing and having challenging conversations with senior leaders.
  • Experience in supporting others in a fast-paced, complex and often ambiguous environment
  • Highly effective written and oral presentation and communications and advocacy skills
  • Highly developed influencing, networking and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective and trusted relationships
  • You will ideally have experience in dealing with local authorities and internal business units/customers.
  • Transport and/or town planning experience would be looked atfavourably.
  • You may have a relevant degree and or have worked in Consultancy or a government organisation (in a relevant environment).
