Principal Advisor, Talent at Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections), Nationwide

The Principal Advisor, Talent role (12-month fixed term) provides a rare opportunity to join our newly forming national talent function, working to deliver an innovative and ambitious work programme. Our work programme will see us co-create products, solutions and offerings that increase access to careers within Ara Poutama Aotearoa and the public service, enable our people to step in to their rangatira space and pursue their potential, mobilise our people in fair and flexible ways, plus much more. Our talent work programme will see us work on several key projects in parallel throughout the first year, creating the opportunity for a 12-month fixed term role.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Principal Advisor, Talent fits within our newly forming Talent team, part of the broader Talent & Organisation group. The Principal Adviser, Talent will support the design, development and implementation of integrated products and solutions across the employee lifecycle in line with our talent work programme.

Some accountabilities include:

  • Scoping, planning and delivering projects, with an initial focus on talent management and mobility frameworks.
  • Co-designing products, solutions and offerings with our key partners and stakeholders.
  • Lead implementation, communication and change management activities to bring our offerings to life, ensuring we achieve the desired benefits.
  • Working as part of a highly motivated team.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

We are looking for someone who values innovation, can think critically, develop strong relationships and who thrives in change and ambiguity. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and kaupapa Māori informed approaches to work.
  • Strong cultural capability and awareness, able to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, development and implementation of products, solutions and offerings within the People & Capability space (and ideally talent management related).
  • Strong project and change management capability.
  • Strong partnering, coaching and facilitation skills. Ability to build authentic and trusted relationships.

 Some travel will be required across NZ and it is preferable that you have a Full clean NZ Drivers License.

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The mid point of the salary range is $129,519 and the full range (85%-120%) is $110,091 - $155,423. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
