About the Role
We currently have several opportunities available to join our team as a Public Health Nurse. These are permanent, part-time roles, 0.6 to 1.0 FTE available.
In this role, you will deliver public health nursing services across the community. Public health nursing includes assessment of population health, attention to the multiple determinants of health, an emphasis on primary prevention, and continued commitment to best evidence based public health nursing practice.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The public health nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, and work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
You understand the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are skilled in applying its principles effectively in your role. You build and maintain positive relationships at all levels and models an agile approach –try new approaches, learn quickly, adapt fast. You are able to utilise advanced nursing knowledge and skills through reflective practice, critical thinking and professional judgement to provide competent care and advice while working to top of scope.
Skills and Experience
- Current registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand as Registered Nurse
- 3+ years clinical experience, Authorised Vaccinator or interest in completing training, demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and clinical judgement, particularly when working with children and adolescents
- Hold a currently assessed nursing portfolio as assessed via an approved Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP)
- Child and Adolescent health related experience and family planning experience
- Ability to work within a team and autonomously in a rural setting
- Proven experience and competence using Patient Management Systems
- An eye for detail and commitment for continuous quality improvement
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Full, clean New Zealand drivers licence
