Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.

We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations — from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.

Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

About the Role

As Facilities Coordinator, you will support the effective management, maintenance and compliance of Health New Zealand facilities across the Nelson Marlborough district. Based in Nelson, this is a varied role that combines facilities coordination, property compliance, budget monitoring and minor project delivery. Regular day travel to other hospitals and Health New Zealand sites across the district will be required.

Working as part of the Facilities team, you will assist with work order delivery and processing to the Trade staff and Contractors along with work order delivery for planned Maintenance associated with Building Compliances.

You'll also coordinate building compliance activities, maintenance work, annual surveys and associated purchase orders. You will monitor budgets, identify potential compliance risks and provide timely advice to the Facilities Manager to help ensure issues are addressed promptly.

The role will also contribute to capital and minor works programmes, including facility refurbishments, alterations, building projects and furnishing replacements. You will help coordinate contractors and consultants, monitor health and safety requirements and oversee corrective and maintenance work across Health New Zealand facilities.

Giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, the team understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.

About you

You will bring practical experience in property, facilities or building management, along with a sound understanding of building construction, maintenance and compliance requirements. Comfortable balancing competing priorities, you can coordinate maintenance activities, monitor expenditure and keep accurate records while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and compliance.

You will be confident engaging with contractors, consultants, local authorities and internal teams. Your organised and collaborative approach will help you build effective working relationships, identify emerging issues and provide clear, practical advice.

You will also bring sound judgement, personal integrity and a commitment to delivering reliable facilities services that support the wider health system and the communities we serve.
