Project Coordinator Te Tai Tokerau me Tamaki Makaurau - Hauora Māori Service at Te Whatu Ora, Northern

About the Role

The Project Coordinator provides programme and project management support to the Regional Director and management team ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and smooth coordination across workstreams. It involves planning, monitoring, and facilitating projects, maintaining accurate documentation and risk registers, and supporting leadership through effective oversight and collaboration.

About the Team/Service

As the Hauora Māori Service of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora (Health NZ) our core role is to ensure New Zealanders have better and more timely access to health care.  The devolution of resources and decision making to the regions ensures those closest to service users and whānau are involved in decisions on how healthcare is delivered. We are committed to ensuring our operating model is responsive to the needs of Māori. 

About you

As an experienced coordinator or project professional, you bring strong leadership in managing projects and mentoring others in your areas of expertise, particularly in applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice. A confident and effective communicator, you excel at supporting senior leadership and fostering cross-functional collaboration to drive meaningful outcomes.

You will also have:

  • Experience in project coordination or management with at least 5-7 years of experience in a similar role within a large organisation
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft key governance documents and materials
  • Knowledge and practical experience in applying Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches
  • Proven ability to coordinate and manage complex projects, with experience in the health sector considered an advantage
