About the Role

We currently have permanent full-time and part-time positions available to join our team as a Public Health Nurse.  In this role, you will provide public health nursing services throughout the community, focusing on promoting and protecting the health of the population. Key responsibilities include conducting population health assessments, addressing a broad range of health determinants, prioritising primary prevention strategies, and consistently applying evidence-based practice to support optimal public health outcomes.

About the Team/Service/ Location

The public health nursing team is part of the National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora and works towards Pae Ora (healthy futures for all) by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored. 

As a Public Health Nurse in Dargaville, you'll make a real difference in a close-knit rural community, supporting whānau wellbeing while enjoying the unique lifestyle of Northland's west coast.

About you

We're seeking a Registered Nurse who brings:

  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable outcomes for whānau and communities
  • Strong relationship‑building, adaptability, and teamwork in multidisciplinary settings
  • Advanced nursing knowledge with sound judgement and reflective practice
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and attention to detail
  • Current NZ Nursing Council registration, APC, and full driver's licence

Preferred: paediatric/public health nursing experience, authorised vaccinator status.
