Anaesthetic Technician - Kaitaia Hospital at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Tai Tokerau, Northland

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to provide safe operational anaesthetic and ancillary equipment to Anaesthetists in operating theatre. In this role you will provide direct clinical assistance to Anaesthetists and Intensivists maintaining a high standard of patient care. You will be a part of an integrated operating theatre team with a commitment to ensuring efficient functioning of the operating theatre.

This is a part time position working 36 hours per week, Monday – Sunday on a rostered basis.

About Team/Service/Location

The Theatre Department in Kaitaia Hospital provides elective surgery and endoscopy procedures predominately to people of the Far North and Northland. The department compromises of two theatres with eight-day surgery beds and three recovery beds. The Endoscopy Unit has one endoscopy procedure theatre, and a four-bed endoscopy day stay unit. Patients are referred by GP's and Specialist Consultants throughout the Northland District.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will need to hold a Certificate/Diploma in Anaesthetic Technology or equivalent and be registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand with a current practicing certificate.

  • 2 years' experience post qualification, including Paediatric Skills
  • Ability to work as a team with good communication and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to practice in a culturally safe manner
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
