Mō te tūranga - About the role

We have an exciting part-time, fixed-term opportunity for a senior Registered Nurse looking for that next step in their nursing career, as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)

• Provide specialist nursing care and expertise both in direct care delivery
• Mentor staff so they too gain further knowledge and skill
• Work across the organisation acting in the roles of clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, leader/change agent and care coordinator/case manager
• Support patients throughout their cancer care
• Housed within the Southern Blood and Cancer Service (SB&CS) but will have a role across the whole of the lung cancer pathway
• Based in Dunedin will work closely with the lung cancer CNS based in Invercargill
• Collaborate closely with the Cancer Nurse Coordinators (CNC), the Oncology CNSs and Faster Cancer Treatment team
• Provide a point of contact for patients with complex needs or where multiple specialties are involved
• Facilitate access to all components of the cancer multi-disciplinary team will be a key part of this role
• Rostered days Monday to Friday between 0800 and 1700, exact times to be negotiated

• Either hold or be working towards post graduate qualification at a minimum of a diploma or/and a master's degree
• Excellent group facilitation skills and advanced communication techniques such as conflict resolution, diffusion and mediation skills
• excellent organisational and time management skills, in addition to a professional can do attitude in line with our values
• Proven practice in oncology nursing, and advanced knowledge and skills
• There is an expectation that post graduate studies will have been undertaken, already commenced, or are planned for the future

Utu whānui - Salary range

This role belongs to the NZNO Nursing and Midwifery Collective Agreement, Designated Senior Nurse Salary Scale, Grade 4 and falls between Step 1 ($116,040 p.a pro-rata) and Step 3 ($127,674 p.a pro rata)
