About the role
Southern has an exciting opportunity for you to embark on a new challenge living in a unique and attractive location in beautiful Aotearoa.  We are seeking a highly motivated Medical Oncologist to join our friendly team in Dunedin Hospital on a permanent basis.

The Southern Blood & Cancer Service provides a team of 8 Medical Oncologists and 1 nurse practitioner, 5 Radiation Oncologists and 6 Haematologists working in a tertiary referral centre with strong links to the School of Medicine at Otago University. Dunedin Hospital is a 350-bed teaching and training institution that offers a full complement of sub-specialities and a training site for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. As such we encourage and support staff research and their continuing medical education. Our Service has a solid research program and we would welcome applications from Physicians with a sub-speciality interest or those with an interest in teaching.

Our Service provides regional care and covers the lower South Island so you would be required to participate in outreach clinics to peripheral centres. You will also be expected to participate in an on call roster overseeing admissions and managing in-patients with your RMO team, and providing advice to clinicians and patients throughout the district.

We believe that our dedicated and passionate staff are a significant driving force behind the achievement of our high standards, and we need more like-minded people to help us continue providing excellent care for our community.

The Southern district offers the benefits of excellent amenities, first class primary through to tertiary education and outstanding recreational opportunities.  Whether it is surfing, kayaking or sailing, skiing, hunting or fishing, theatre, live-music or art – there's literally something for everyone.  Why don't you check out https://southernhealthcareers.nz/ for what we can offer you and your whanau.

If this sounds like the opportunity you have been waiting for then apply today!

About you
A requirement of the position is that you will have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or an equivalent qualification, enabling specialist (vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
