About the role

We have an exciting opportunity within our askHR function for a motivated self-starter. In this role you will be responsible for the coordination and high-level administrative support for the Human Resources function across Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora Southern. Our askHR service is a shared and collaborative resource which receives and triages all HR based enquiries from internal and external customers. We support stakeholders with seamless, consistent advice, coordinate all HR related services and work creatively to achieve their deliverables.

Some key responsibilities will be (but are not limited to):

  • Providing quality and timely first line support for our HR & Recruitment services
  • Producing employment contracts and variations to a high standard, ensuring on-boarding processes are completed in full
  • Providing initial HR related advice to our customers, escalating complex matters to the relevant HR & Recruitment teams when appropriate
  • Ensuring we not only meet but continually improve our compliance standards and processes
  • Organising and hosting our bi-monthly ‘Welcome' orientation sessions to new staff

Health New Zealand is undergoing a period of change within our People and Culture function.  We are looking for a team member to support the Southern team on a 6 months fixed-term basis whilst the national operating model is implemented.

Whilst this role is initially available on a fixed-term basis while we work through a national change process, there may be potential opportunities for motivated candidates beyond this term as we adapt to a national HR model of care and grow our team. This is an opportune time to be part of the whole re-design of our shared services!

About you

Our ideal candidates will have:

  • A keen interest in the HR and Recruitment space
  • Previous customer service experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to successfully prioritise tasks and remain professional when working to high volumes and conflicting demands
  • A working knowledge of the general principles of employment relations, employment legislation and privacy requirements
  • High levels of both emotional and cultural intelligence
  • Strong levels of initiative
  • Strong relationship building skills, able to foster a collaborative and vibrant team environment
  • Energy in abundance!

Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA South Island Clerical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement, and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Band 4A between Step 1 $73,476 and Step 3 $76,551 p.a pro rata dependant on relevant experience.
