About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for either a Paramedic or Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at Ōamaru Hospital.
This diverse and rewarding role provides the opportunity to work across acute inpatient and emergency care settings, delivering high-quality assessment, intervention, treatment and ongoing management for patients presenting with a wide range of healthcare needs. The role supports both adult and paediatric patients and requires strong clinical judgement, critical thinking and excellent communication skills.
Our inpatient ward provides acute medical and rehabilitation services for adults of all ages across a variety of specialties. Our Emergency Department includes triage, rapid assessment, dedicated resuscitation bays, acute, sub-acute and paediatric treatment cubicles, and ambulatory care spaces.
You will:
- Provide safe, effective and patient-centred clinical care
- Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop appropriate care plans
- Collaborate closely with medical staff, nurses, allied health professionals and support staff
- Manage acute presentations across emergency and inpatient settings
- Assist with ambulance transfers and inter-facility patient movement
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and service development
- Support clinical excellence through mentoring, professional development and collaborative practice
- Be part of a team committed to delivering exceptional care to our community

About You
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand OR Paramedic Council of New Zealand
- A current Annual Practising Certificate
- Recent and relevant post-graduate experience in an acute emergency setting or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and patient management skills
- Commitment to delivering equitable health outcomes and upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Salary
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the Pay Scale, between Step 3 $86,519 and Step 7 $106,739 p.a dependant on relevant experience.
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA Allied Health Scientific and Technical CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the Pay Scale, between Step 3 $90,843 and Step 7 $110,290 p.a dependant on relevant experience.
