Salary Band – $100,849 - $106,739 p.a. pro-rata + Kiwisaver

About the role
This is an excellent opportunity to promote, facilitate, and mentor our staff in clinical skills, policies and procedures, and to support our staff learning new specialty procedures.
Collaborate with medical staff, charge nurse managers, other nurses, a service educator, ward receptionists, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech language therapists.
Tasks include but are not limited to:
- Providing clinical coaching, mentorship and education to nursing staff
- Supporting staff development through teaching, feedback and competency assessment
- Driving quality improvement initiatives aligned with service goals and KPIs
- Ensuring compliance with professional standards
- Collaborating with leadership to identify training needs and workforce development opportunities.
- Assisting with patient transfers from Ōamaru to Dunedin via Ambulance

Ōamaru Hospital is a Rural Hospital with an inpatient ward providing care for acute medical and rehabilitation services, for adults of all ages across a wide variety of specialties. We also have an Emergency Department with triage, a rapid assessment area, dedicated resuscitation areas, acute, sub-acute and paediatric cubicles along with ambulatory care spaces.
Ōamaru Hospital is a rural hospital providing services to the wider Waitaki District. With a 24-hour Emergency Department, a 16 bed inpatient ward, Maternity ward, Outpatients, Radiology, Allied Health and District Nursing services.
Our fabulous Waitaki district is known for its affordable living, spectacular landscapes, braided rivers, geological marvels, beautiful lakes, long beaches, steampunk sculptures, and of course the penguins!

About you
- A current New Zealand Registration and APC.
- A current Portfolio (PDRP or equivalent) or be working towards one – Level 3 or 4.
- Strong commitment to excellence in patient care
- Strong credible clinical leadership skills.
- Passion for teaching, coaching and developing others
- Able to influence practice, support change and contribute to service improvement
- First-rate knowledge of professional standards and regulations for Nurses with impeccable practice standards and nursing speciality knowledge.
- Previous preceptorship experience or Adult teaching qualifications would be an advantage.

Salary range
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the RN Pay Scale, between step 5 $100,849 and step 7 $106,739 pro rata p.a dependant on relevant experience.
