About the role

Queen Mary Maternity Unit at Dunedin Hospital is seeking a Clinical Midwife Manager to join the team in a permanent full-time role, or fixed-term as a part-time (0.5 FTE) opportunity.

Join our maternity team and make a meaningful difference for parents, babies, and their whānau.

As the Clinical Midwife Manager you will work collaboratively with the Midwife Manager in the operational management of our maternity unit and the promotion of clinical midwifery professional standards.

What you will be doing:

• Providing clinical leadership to our dedicated team
• Coordinating the day-to-day functioning of the unit.
• Managing staff and patient flows across the unit
• Staff rostering
• Ensuring discharge planning processes are timely and robust
• Quality initiatives to deliver safe, patient focused care

About You

We are looking for someone with proven clinical leadership skills, our ideal candidate will also bring extensive midwifery experience and be an excellent communicator.

What you will bring:

• NZ Registered Midwife with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Strong communication skills, professional judgement, and a commitment to best-practice midwifery care.
• Innovative, forward-thinking approach to enhancing clinical care.
• Ability to build effective relationships and work independently or within multidisciplinary teams.
• Confidence with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to developing capability in these areas.
• Current QLP portfolio and a relevant postgraduate qualification (minimum PGCert).

Salary range

This role falls under the terms and conditions of the MERAS Midwives Collective Agreement (1 June 2025 – 31 October 2027), and falls between the step 1 ($121,336,199 p.a prorata) and Step 3 ($133,507 p.a prorata) of the Designated Senior Midwife Salary Scale - Grade 4.
