About the Role
You will join a large, supportive physician workforce at Dunedin Hospital, working across a comprehensive range of RACP‑accredited training runs spanning both Basic and Advanced Physician Training. These roles provide broad and high‑quality clinical exposure within a tertiary hospital serving a large regional population, supported by strong supervision, educational excellence, and a clearly defined pathway from trainee through to consultant practice.
Dunedin Hospital offers an extensive and well‑supported Basic Physician Training programme with a strong reputation for producing excellent FRACP examination outcomes. A defining strength of the programme is its exceptional examination support, designed specifically to help trainees succeed in both the written and clinical FRACP exams. This includes access to the well‑established Dunedin written and clinical courses, regular facilitated study groups, structured case preparation, and dedicated teaching sessions. Trainees are supported by an experienced faculty with a strong focus on mentoring, feedback, and pastoral care, creating an environment where Basic Trainees are well prepared, well supported, and set up for success.

Advanced trainees work closely with experienced consultants in a tertiary‑level service that supports a large regional population, ensuring exposure to complex, high‑acuity medicine in a collegial and supportive training environment.
Advanced trainees are supported by experienced supervisors with a strong track record in training, assessment, and Fellowship preparation. Regular feedback, mentorship, and structured assessments are core components of the programme.

About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at mcnz.org.nz
- You will be training towards a career as a Physician. We are also interested in applicants wanting to gain experience in adult medicine towards a relevant career such as General Practice, Rural Hospital Medicine, Emergency, or Intensive Care
- We are interested in hearing from RMOs with a minimum of two years' post qualification experience and who possess a keen interest in General Medicine
- Advanced Trainees must have passed the FRACP and be deemed by the RACP as having advanced into this category of training
