About the role
In this role you will be working from Dunedin Hospital as part of the Ward 6C. Ward 6C is a 12-bed acute assessment and treatment unit for people aged over 65 years with an array of mental health (along with some physical health) needs.
This is a role created to assist with the growing demand in patient referrals for assessment/treatment services. The role is pivotal to the effective functioning of the wider Mental Health Service for Older People team, through provision of a systematic and organised approach to triaging patient referrals.
Shifts for this role are Monday - Sunday on a rotating roster.
Shifts are as follows:
- Mornings - 7am to 3.30pm
- Afternoons - 2.30pm to 11pm
- Nights - 10.45pm to 7.15am

About you
Our ideal candidate will:
- be a Registered Nurse with a current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate
- have a mental health scope of practice to allow for working within this sector - more information can be found at http://www.nursingcouncil.org.nz/Nurses/Scopes-of-practice
- be dynamic, with a strong knowledge base being essential to meeting the challenge of caring for older people in a mental health environment.
- have previous mental health experience - this is essential.
