Casual Clinical Coder at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, Otago

About the role

Our talented team of clinical coders deliver accurate, thorough information for the health of our region.

You will be responsible for identifying and translating inpatient medical procedures, interventions and diagnoses into code using various systems such as ICD 10-AM 12th Edition (and any subsequent editions), the Australian Coding Standards (ACS) and the Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI).

The role is a casual opportunity working as and when required. Remote work is available for experienced Clinical Coders trained in NZ (or Australian) Clinical Coding.

About you

The successful applicant will preferably have coded in ICD-10-AM 12th Edition and ideally hold (or be studying towards) a HIMAA Clinical Coding qualification and will therefore have some understanding of the requirements of clinical coding within a health environment.

To be successful in this role, you will also need to demonstrate the following:

  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to work to deadlines
  • High standard of accuracy whilst working with complex information
  • Be able to work well within a team
  • Have excellent comprehension and organisational skills
  • Be motivated and reliable
  • Prior administrative experience and/or research skills is desirable bit not essential
