Clinical Nurse Specialist - Intellectual Disability Services at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, Otago

About the role

This role will initiate and facilitate Mental Health Service educational requirements for all staff and provide educational support for other Healthcare providers.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist in this role will not only develop and deliver mandatory training to the MHAIDs workforce but will also review the training needs of the workforce and develop new training or facilitate training with other agencies as required.

The role will model specialist mental health nursing care based on substantial theoretical knowledge in a mental health setting and work with nursing staff to continually develop practice. You will also be involved in maintaining the ongoing development of the MHAID workforce clinical skills.

About you

In addition to your nursing qualifications, you will also have postgraduate qualifications (relevant to mental health), at a minimum a diploma, but preferably a master's degree.

We are looking for a positive and confident registered nurse who has the drive and enthusiasm to motivate staff and engage them in their clinical development. You will be a respected professional in your own right and an exceptional team member with strong communication skills.

You will have support and networking with other Clinical Nurse Specialists working within Mental Health, Addictions and Intellectual Disability Services across Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand - Southern.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • have or be working towards Level 4 PDRP
  • be a registered nurse with an APC and a scope to work in mental health
  • have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • possess intermediate/advanced computer skills.
