Registered Nurse - Long Waitlist and Outsourcing at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Southern, Otago

  • Salary band $81,000 - $106,000 pro-rata p.a. and KiwiSaver
  • Fixed-term, part-time (0.8 FTE, 32 hours per week) project based until October 2025

About the role

This four-month secondment role will be pivotal in continuing the current process while assisting with the transition to the new HNZ national panel agreement model. At the completion of the secondment, the updated position description and task folder will be used to advertise for a permanent position.

  • Responsible for coordinating the outsourcing process between the patient/service and provider for General Surgery, Plastics and Urology at Dunedin Hospital
  • Identify patients who are suitable to be outsourced and then manages their journey through the health system to ensure a successful outcome
  • Ensure a smooth operational shift for Dunedin outsourcing providers
  • Collaborate with the Service Managers for General Surgery, Plastics and Urology and the Planned Care District Manager to manage this change
  • Assist in redefining the long wait nurse role, including updating the position description and desk file post-transition

About you

You will:

  • bring excellent assessment skills

  • be clinically focused
  • be able to exercise independent nursing judgement
  • have strong problem-solving skills together with the ability to communicate effectively.

You will also have the following:

  • Current registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and a current APC, with the right to work in New Zealand
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
  • Excellence in communication and customer service skills

Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the pay scale between $81,683 and $106,739 p.a dependent on relevant experience.
