About the role

The Payroll/HRIS Administrator position here at Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern is a varied and busy role supporting the payroll function for a team of more than 6,300 employees throughout the Southern region. Our team is an experienced, friendly and hard-working bunch who support each other to provide the best possible service for the organisation.

In this role, you will be providing support, advice and above all, an efficient and accurate payroll service across our diverse organisation.

Along with our existing administrators, the key responsibilities of your role will be as follows:

  • Ensuring that all employees receive accurate and timely Payroll/HRIS services
  • Assisting with reporting related activities
  • Providing advice to both employees and management
  • Ensuring you keep informed and up to date with relevant legislation

About you

We are on the lookout for a team player who will bring their extensive knowledge and experience within payroll to actively contribute to the smooth running of the service.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • cmmercial payroll experience and a broad understanding of the end-to-end payroll process
  • high levels of computer literacy, particularly within Excel and other Microsoft applications
  • a strong attention to detail
  • the ability to work well in an agile environment
  • excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
